I want to give a special thanks to one of my most supportive readers, a very creative writer, and a wonderful person, Jojo Al-waealy. He hosts an amazing blog with mind-opening words that can leave you speechless. I recommend you take the time to visit.
How My Blog Started:
To put it simple, my blog started after I shared my writing for the first time and got startling positive feedback. I’ve been writing since middle school but I’ve always kept all my work private.
In middle school, I didn’t write as much poetry as short stories. The first thing I ever wrote that got me realizing that an unsigned writer was inside of me was this short horror story challenge I did with my brother. Second, I wrote about a girl with a bad luck gene.
From middle school, through high-school, I was obsessed with filling journals with these whole worlds inside of me. I was taking these imaginary friends and making them real. I was taking dreams and turning them into ink and I was loving it. It was like an adventure. I was the queen of something incredible. I laughed and I cried with my characters. They were my friends.
I decided I wanted to write a novel. A novel that would be worthy of publishing. I started a speculative, dystopian fiction. I joined a writing club of 500 students and we had a contest. Ten novels would be chosen out of the bunch.
I came in first place and was told that if I wanted to take writing seriously, I should start sharing my work and getting feedback. They recommended WordPress and just like that, I ended up with the Unsigned Writer.
I took all those ideas, all the characters that were my own friends, and the worlds that I was a part of. I took all of it and put into one being. A Writer without a name. The Unsigned Writer.
My Advice For New Bloggers:
This is a difficult question because there is different advice for each writer. No writer creates and imagines the same way. That’s the dream of it all. We all rule our own worlds of imagination.
I suppose all I can say is don’t be afraid. Don’t restrict yourself because you think people will hate your writing. If anything, start writing anonymously so that you don’t have to feel like your being watched or judged.
Just write and share it. Let others in on these amazing worlds you rule. Let others see these emotions exposed on paper so those that can’t write, can feel those emotions and see they aren’t alone. There is nothing better then relating to words that you couldn’t find the strength to put down yourself.
So, be yourself. Write what you want. Write what you feel. Write every day. Write what is inside of you. Take the Unsigned Writer inside of you and allow yourself to listen.
Reading the inspiring stories of others is just incredible. I love how the wonderful persin that nominated me, Jojo, recommended anyone take the Award and fill it in. I would like to do the same. I would like to nominate my supports, other writers passing through, and just about anyone interested. Just leave me a comment and I’ll check it out.
