I Am Smiling

I am smiling and I am trying.

I am smiling and I am crying.

I am smiling and I am dying.

Why is everything blurry?

When I lay down for the night.

Put away my masks and see myself for once.

I see a leash built by the ones I love.

How much longer am I controlled?

Screaming for freedom – rebelling for me.

I look alive but inside I am falling asleep.

Every time I wake up, a new scar is unleashed.

I am smiling and I am trying.

I am smiling and I am crying.

I am smiling and I am dying.
