Introduction Of The Author

The Journey Of J. M. Lilin

Dear Readers,

Welcome to the Unsigned Writer! Thank you for visiting. I thought that since I’ve just reached a good amount of published writing, I might as well explain how I started writing and what I’m all about.

My name is J. M. Lilin and I am an author of wondering words and a fatal curiosity. I’ve been telling stories all my life and realized I wanted to be a writer when I wrote my first novel in middle school.

My childhood was based completely on stories as I grew up with four brothers and went outside every day to enjoy an adventure in our own little world. As I grew up, running around outside and playing with figurines in the sandbox just wasn’t as appealing as it had been when I was younger. Instead, I’d end up sitting there, thinking about the story I could have played out.

In middle school, during a Christmas Break, I wrote my first fiction novel. It was a horror book based on a girl and her cousin going to the circus for the first time. A creepy clown had stared them down all the way through checking in and the first show. After the show, the parents leave the girls to explore and at first, the girls forget about the clown. As it starts getting late though, they are pursued by creepy clowns and actors. The girl’s cousin is taken, and the obstacle is that she has to face her fears and find her cousin. In the end, the twist is that her parents had been turned into the creepiest of the clowns. I had so much fun writing this, that I decided to continue writing.

In high-school, I wrote a book about a girl with a terrible bad luck gene in her family, which she had herself. When she turned eighteen, she was free to go out and not have her parents worrying about her bad luck. Obviously, she went on a ton of adventures with a ton of bad luck, the main adventure being her going on an island with a ton of friends to spend a week camping and just having fun.

I’m sure you’ve guessed that her trip turned out really awful. The inspiration for this novel came from a trip I went on with some friends from church. We stayed on an island and I practically brushed the hand of death by falling out of a coconut tree.

Towards the ending of high-school, I wrote six more novels and joined a creative writing club. Since then, I’ve been writing novels, poetry, short stories, and many ideas for writing. I’m also blogging, obviously, joining writing contests, and blogging. Oh yeah, did I mention I’m blogging?

I just finished the National Novel Writing Month and am now working on finishing the second book to a fiction series of five books. My favorite fiction genres are action, thriller, dystopia, paranormal, and horror.

My other hobbies and things to love include photography, music, traveling, being a member of the Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day-Saints, reading, volunteering with horses, laughing much too hard, loving my tuxedo cat, and overall, just having an adventure in this brilliant world.

The author I admire…is every author. I love them all. I appreciate all the hard work they put into writing something. It takes courage and honesty to write something others will read. You put pieces of yourself into that book and you spend countless nights restlessly thinking about what the next word will be.

Knowing, that I fairly couldn’t publish everything I write into a book, I decided to start a blog. I have so many stories, thoughts, and characters running around my mind so I will do my best to have my thoughts flow together well. I won’t be writing on any specific subjects, so all the subjects are going to be super random – whatever thoughts come to my mind, inspire me, or fit the time of the year, but some of that writing should include categories and a couple too many cliff-hangers. I especially appreciate stories and poetry.

Thank you for reading my blog. I hope I can spark an idea in your mind that helps you think of things a little bit different and that you’ll enjoy reading my work as much as I enjoy writing it. If you have any requests, leave a comment on my main page

  1. I agree. I really enjoy reading about how everything works out for different writers. Each story is unique and different and has its own life lesson along with inspiration.

  3. Nice. That bad luck gene story sounds so interesting. I tried to write a novel in high school and it went so bad. I only got done like 20 pages after throwing the first 100 away. That’s a lot of focus you had. Good luck on your journey. Never stop writing!

  4. Thank you, Benjamin. That means a lot to me. I absolutely don’t plan on ever quitting.
Your writing might have been terrible then but it sure is brilliant now. As long as we’re growing every day, and doing what we enjoy, I believe we will all get somewhere in the end.
